La Laguna a family town

Imagine a city designed for walking with their children and grandparents in peace. That is, without doubt, the Lagoon of this century. Pedestrianization center, still ongoing, has transformed the city into a huge open plaza to the inhabitants. The citizens have regained public space, something that is perceived only a short walk through the old town: children swinging on new and central squares, families walking hand in hand several blocks without having to worry about stepping on the road, the more telling stories , sitting on benches overlooking lush gardens.

Today, pedestrians of all ages occupy every corner of the city. Around them was born a new breed of commercial and cultural activities. After families have reached the theater and traveling musicians. The early morning parade through the streets every weekend and the terraces are full of children and parents. Just a short bike ride to get closer to the countryside, the plain lagoon. The Municipal Market in the Plaza del Cristo, is open daily to provide the best farm produce of the season, but also an excellent chocolate with churros. The sweets and toys, and even the magical charm of the stories about the past of the city, are the delight of the children.

Is the child remains in the lagoon inside. "He bore his children a cultural route for its historic heritage? Try telling that in the church of Santo Domingo is buried a pirate, or who say that the Palace Lercaro is inhabited by ghosts. Take them for walks in the scientific exposition hosted by the Institute Canarias Cabrera Pinto, the Museum of Science and the Cosmos, or hit them at Bajamar, one of the coastal villages of the municipality, to see the sea crashing against the shore. Talk of the green flash, Corujas that ply the sidewalks every evening and show them the ruins of what was the church of St. Augustine, devastated by fire. Do I need an amusement park to do a little happy?

A small tip:

La Laguna is a city given to the popularization of science and culture. We suggest a route through their showrooms, from the sample of the Institute of Natural History Canarias Cabrera Pinto, past the History Museum of Tenerife, located in the house Lercaro, to the wonders of the universe that lies the Museum of Science and Cosmos, a place that strikes children and adults. But that's not all: many private galleries display their collections to the public in the heart of the city. Worth discovering.
