Banking and currency

Most banks are open Monday to Friday from 08.30 to 14.00 to 14.30 hours. Only a few branches open on Saturday morning. Throughout the island there are ATMs available 24 hours, most of which (Servired, 4B, etc ...) give international service.

In any bank is possible to apply the exchange rate, although there are also exchange offices in certain tourist areas, airports, stations, etc., And most tourist establishments offering this service.

Most hotels, restaurants and shops in Tenerife accept major credit cards (American Express, Visa, Mastercard, 4B ...), indicated with signs at the entrance of the establishment.

It should be noted that in some establishments (restaurants, shops ...) is not supported with cash payment of 100, 200 and 500 Euros.

Health provision

Tourists come from countries that are members of the European Union and countries with EU regulation (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland) will need the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to receive healthcare in the Canaries. You can purchase this card at the health institution belonging to their country of origin.

The doctors and private hospitals in Spain do not accept the TSE. To receive medical care at such centers, they must pay these expenses on their own or take out insurance covering them. If you miss the TSE must pay hospital costs, doctors and pharmacists in advance and ask your agency affiliation reimbursement of expenses provided by submitting invoices.

The tourists from Andorra, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru will need a special certificate from their country of origin to receive health care in Spain. If you forget the license, must pay the hospital costs, doctors and pharmacists in advance and its affiliate agency will reimburse submitting invoices.

If you come from a country other than the above will have to pay for health care, so you are advised to purchase health insurance.

In any case, I encourage you to learn, through its affiliate organization, the existing requirements to be met to receive health care in Spain.

To travel to the Canary Islands is not necessary to be vaccinated against any disease, although, like anywhere in the world, it is recommended to have updated tetanus shot if you are going to be in touch with nature and the countryside.

Medicines can be purchased at pharmacies, whose trading symbol identifier is a green cross. Remember that it is the doctor who will prescribe in each case treatment.

Post

Post headquarters often have open continuously from Monday to Friday from 08,30 to 20.30 and Saturday from 09.30 to 14.00 hours, closed Sundays and holidays. The schedule of the remaining post offices can vary depending on the type of office and status thereof. The stamps can also be purchased at tobacconists (stores selling newspapers, snuff, etc.).

Electricity

In the Canaries, the standard voltage is 220-240V AC, 50 Hz electrical appliances of some countries will need a transformer and adapter. The plugs have two round pins (European system), of which there are adapters available at any hardware store.
